Software goes into smart cities water wastage – DuurzaamBedrijfsleven.nl

The Indian IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has developed software to improve the water infrastructure in cities and thereby reduce water wastage.

The so-called Intelligent Urban Exchange (IUX) for Intelligent Water, TCS has developed a digital platform that allows cities to manage water infrastructure. The system makes timely analyzes and collects current data to prevent water loss due to leaks and other damage to the infrastructure.

Infrastructure Monitoring

The software can then alert water companies in infrastructure damage. In addition, the platform offers advice on what measures companies can best take to repair the water network and to prevent further spillage. According to TCS, the IUX for Intelligent Water also adjust according to the information needs of water suppliers.

“Smart water networks up to 70 percent cost savings for monitoring the infrastructure and even greater cost savings through possible harm to prevent, “said Seeta Hariharan, chief executive of TCS Digital Software Solutions. The group sees great opportunities for water companies to use the software for the development of smart cities.

Smart mobility and energy

Earlier, TCS has completed his IUX software solutions for smart cities with systems for transport and energy. The IUX for Intelligent Transportation shows based on current understanding of data such as fuel consumption, rush hours, and smart routes for public transport. This says the IT group transport to be able to effectively put into urban areas.

In addition, the IUX need for Intelligent Energy Smart Cities assist in the optimal use of renewable energy. The software solution provides insight into the current energy consumption and the potential for CO2 reduction and energy savings in buildings. The system uses smart grids of sensors and gauges are provided for the power real-time monitoring.

200 sensors

In the Netherlands water company Vitens develops smart water supply to the water infrastructure better to control and to improve the quality of the drinking water. The 9,000-kilometer network in Friesland gets two hundred sensors. With big data specialists Anchormen and ICRIS Vitens will use the technique to recognize patterns in complex data.
