Almost two thirds (63%) of the institutions of the public sector uses software from the cloud. This is by far the leader in the SaaS use in the Netherlands. Especially in teaching the use of SaaS applications is very high, 86 percent of the sites with 50 or more employees use such an application. Primary education thus falls outside the surveyed audience. The vast majority of software for education is conducted in SaaS form. In the care using SaaS applications is now at 50 percent. The lowest is the SaaS use in locations of businesses with 50 to 250 employees. Although this segment is growing rapidly, the current SaaS usage is about one third. This is apparent from 5,000 interviews conducted with Computer Profile IT managers of Dutch establishments.
The construction sector still remains 31 percent behind in the acceptance of the cloud. The transport sector and industry are still below 40 percent. Segmentation by size shows that the use of SaaS applications is highest among companies with 100-200 and 200-500 employees (just over 50 percent). Below 100 and above 500, the usage is below 46 percent.
HR and office most commonly used cloud applications
HR software is most often in SaaS decreased -form. 58 percent of business establishments using HR software and 22 percent use it from the cloud. Then come office applications. In 21 percent of the business establishments is an office application found in the cloud.
The high SaaS use in the public sector is evident from the use of ‘vertical’ software from the cloud. This includes the student administration systems in education, patient registration and HIS systems in health care systems.
Out of the office applications from the cloud is by far the largest part formed by Microsoft Office 365. Nearly 1 in 5 Sites used now Office 365 applications. Education also runs here, far ahead of the other sectors.
Cloud Providers
The rapid increase in the use of Office 365 is also seen as there to the vendors of SaaS applications are considered. With a penetration of 18 percent Microsoft is the most common SaaS vendor. That’s more than doubled in the past two years. In addition to using Office 365 is also using SharePoint Online an important part of the Microsoft cloud and use Exchange Online and CRM Online. In addition to Microsoft also score high with their Raet and ADP HR solutions. Schoolmaster is the most common provider of educational applications in the cloud.
Given Microsoft’s dominance in office applications and the increasing use of Office 365, Microsoft’s leadership will be the most frequently mentioned SaaS vendor in the years only increase.
