Apple’s software chief: “All apps via multitasking close … – One More Thing

It is a myth but difficult to rid the world: closing all open apps from the multitasking interface would make an iPhone faster. We all know someone in high and low claims it really helps.

Nonsense, of course, but how do you explain that the skeptics? Maybe they need to hear it again from an Apple senior vice president. Craig Federighi, the man responsible for iOS and OS X, explains it.

Federighi said in an e-mail from a curious Apple user Tim Cook asked if closing apps is good for speed and battery life.

Why closing apps does not help?

the conclusion of all the apps is not easy because you often dozens of apps to top must sweep the multitasking screen. Apple has deliberately not made button that closes all applications, it is not necessary. Apps seem to keep running in the background, but that’s not technically true. iOS freezes apps are closed automatically after 10 minutes. This is why the effect is negligible on the battery life and speed of an iPhone.

Applications which do affect the battery life, are apps that activity may continue to run in the background. Consider playing music or constantly following your GPS location. iOS 9 shows you the battery usage of apps easily insight through a special menu
