AMD Radeon GPU Software PRO Linux 16.15.1013 beta – Tweakers

AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition logo (75 pix) AMD is beginning to want to indicate more work this year making drivers for Linux and now has a beta released this called amdgpu -opensourcedriver, including support for the Vulkan-api. However, there are quite a few limitations. So are only supported graphics cards from the Radeon R9 series and the driver can be used only on the 64bit version of Ubuntu 14.04.4. Provisionally supported only the basic display and power management fuctions, so diverse is definitely not suitable for daily use. The release notes for this release can be found below.

  • Current driver is only validated for the products listed on the AMD Product Compatibility table.

  • RandR 1.4 features are not validated

  • Suspend to Disk (S4) is not supported

Known Issues
 
  • Piglit test causes xinit to crash
  •  

  • Multi-display support is not working properly with more than three displays
  •  

  • 4K displays may go blank after changing display modes
  •
