Russian programmers could develop software for the Pentagon, according to documents on a long-running case which last week led to a settlement. Two US technology companies, NetCracker and Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC), decided to settle for almost $ 13 million.
NetCracker and CSC implemented software to manage the telecom network for the US Department of Defense. CSC had a contract with the Pentagon for the development of the software, which NetCracker was the subcontractor. According to the indictment of the US government would NetCracker programmers without “security clearances” for software are deployed, even compelled the contract only personnel with appropriate powers should work on the software.
The case came in 2011 rolling when the Pentagon by a director of NetCracker was tipped off that Russian programmers have developed software for sensitive US communications, reports The Daily Beast. According to the director of the Russian software programmers made it possible for the communication of the Pentagon were infected with malware.
“At least once were due to the code of the Russian programmers multiple viruses at the DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency) network load,” says the director. He argues that greed was decided to deploy the Russian programmers, as they were much cheaper than American programmers. Both companies, however, deny this. Or the code of the Russian programmers actually led to malware as alleged would not confirm the Pentagon.
