AMD has made its software driver for Radeon graphics cards and GPUs complete overhaul. The software is built on a new platform and must above all pieces are faster than predecessor Catalyst. Moreover, it would want to bring out AMD frequent driver updates.
The first version of the new driver platform has been named Crimson. That should refer to the traditional color of ATI Radeon cards. The red color would come back in future driver versions, as different shades of red. The turnaround for the driver software was motivated by the community of Radeon owners. The new Radeon Software main complaints would be addressed. The Crimson software would also start up to ten times faster, are more stable and offer more features and performance than the old Catalyst Control Center.
Crimson and subsequent versions are no longer written in .Net, but in a Another framework, called Qt. Then the software on various platforms in theory would, for iOS or Android to it, run. Also completely removing the driver, for example, installing a new version or for changing a video card would be much more complete than at CCC. To completely remove the software was Ccleaner software as needed, but Crimson would be completely removed with the built-in uninstaller. New versions should appear at least six times per year, while CCC had to make do with three new releases.
Crimson has numerous new features, including faster initialization of new connected displays, support for LiquidVR technology Free-Sync and improved support. Also frame pacing, low frame rate compensation and enhanced using custom resolutions and virtual super resolution. APUs for the new driver improves video playback. Finally, the loading time of games has improved and would devoid GPUs less energy. The first version of the Crimson software can be downloaded at AMD.
