Voice Works, Fortes and Mavim. That is this year’s top-three of the Main Software 50. But more important than the rank list is the finding that the software industry is still very healthy

.

Main Software 50, which Main Capital for the fourth once compiled in collaboration with reseachpartner Dialogic, this year has no fewer than 22 entrants: companies that last year did not participate or were not good enough to be among the 50 most powerful emerging parties.

This implies that 22 companies also disappeared from the list. Mostly because they were surpassed in terms of performance this year by industry peers. But there are also companies that disappeared from the list because they did it well, that they were an attractive acquisition candidate. That played last year in four of the Main Software 50 companies of 2014: Textkernel was acquired by CareerBuilder; Aia Software is incorporated by Kofax; VisionWaves is now part of IFS; and Qelp is owned by Sykes.

Powerful sector

Altogether 50 have the fastest-growing independent, privately held software companies Main Capital and Dialogic mapped, 4536 at FTE employees. That’s 13 percent more than last year. The average annual revenue per full-time employee will, like last year, up from about 122 000 euro.

The total revenue of the top 50 companies in 2014 amounted to 551 million euro; This represents an increase of 13 percent compared to 2013. In comparison, the average Dutch company grew by only a few percent. Most software companies expect to grow rapidly. 32 companies Mains rankings expect next two years to grow more than 20 percent.

Profitable activity

Software updates not only proving to be a fast growing but also a profitable industry. 47 companies have a positive EBIT in 2013. 12 companies even have an EBIT margin between 21 and 50 percent of sales in 2014.
