AMD replaced before the end of 2015 its Catalyst driver for ‘Radeon Software. Besides a new name, the software has been given a new look, with new features. The new Radeon Software would also work faster than Catalyst.
The Radeon Software gets the subtitle Crimson Edition element, which will apply to all versions of the driver that open in 2015 and 2016 . The version number is retained consisting of the year and month of the driver release.
The most striking innovation in the Radeon Software is the integration of installed games, as AMD has been doing for some time with Raptr, and which competitor Nvidia GeForce Experience used. Per game a profile can be selected, with associated graphics settings and possibly overclocking settings for the GPU. Most of the other institutions that emerge from the screenshots, were already in the Catalyst Control Panel provided.
AMD claims that the new software is ten times as fast as the old. Loading the Control Panel of the Radeon Software would only last 0.6 seconds, compared to Catalyst lasted eight seconds. How big is the difference in practice remains to be seen; AMD did the test on an unrepresentative HP Pavilion DM1 laptop, which in 2011 came on the market and features an AMD E-350 APU.
Who himself with the Radeon Software wants to work will have to wait, AMD has indicated the driver before the end of the year release.
