Symantec acquired in the past two different companies that developed encryption software, namely Guardian Edge and PGP. The software of these two acquisitions have long been cast as two different encryption product lines by Symantec, the Guardian Edge was renamed to Endpoint Encryption and PGP Desktop was renamed to Encryption with Encryption Management Server. To an outsider, it is confusing that released one holding two different encryption products that competed with each other and who also could not work together. There is the issue of Endpoint Encryption 11 arrived in 2014 largely ended. Since there is no easy way is available to upgrade from SED and SEE SEMS to be there still maintenance packs released for the old PGP line. The development of new features is only focused on the merged Endpoint Encryption line. The development team has just released the first maintenance-pack version 11.0.1 with the following list of changes:
