The German company Bosch would have made the conscious software to Volkswagen in 2007 that the carmaker could manipulate its emissions. Bosch warned then that the software might be intended only for internal testing and not for driving on the road.
Volkswagen -who installed the software detects that the vehicle travels in a test environment and then expelling less harmful substances in 11 million diesel cars. These cars were in reality so much more polluting than on paper.
The German newspaper Bild says it has “an explosive document. Therein Bosch warns his client from Wolfsburg that the installation of the software in cars is ‘illegal’. Bosch wanted against Bild will not respond and referred to the confidentiality clause it has with its customers.
October 7
The pressure Volkswagen meanwhile increases. According to Bild, the German transport authority KBA has asked the legal department of VW to submit no later than October 7 ‘binding measures and a time plan, and or by when the vehicles without the manipulative software will comply with environmental legislation. If VW does not comply with the request, threatening the cars in question not to be sold.
