The terrifying software issues that plague the JSF – Macworld

The Pentagon has this week released a report on the various issues with the F-35, which includes the problems that plague treated the JSF software (PDF). The report follows a recently leaked memo about the JSF program. It stated that the JSF until 2021 is unreliable

.

If you read the report, you see that the whole system is plagued by problems that it takes more than a few solid troubleshoot sessions. A far from exhaustive list:

  • The Exceedance Integrated Management System that you should keep in mind that this unit does not exceed its boundaries, failed.
  • The maintenance software engineers true depends on his pale unstable because of “interface problems.
  • It appeared randomly not be able to log into the logistics system.
  • A database that contains fixes for a list of diagnostic codes had no solutions to 45 percent of those codes.
  • A logistics system for the deployment of F-35’s did not match the database for releases and any adjustments to aircraft, which caused configuration errors and possible wrong devices are deployed.
  • A system for assigning priorities for maintenance did not work correctly.
  • The diagnostic system did not work properly as data is loaded from a CD, instead of the portable media using pilots in the rule.
  • Logs were erroneously generated and for this reason raised doubts about the data integrity of the management software.
  • External helpdesks should be addressed regularly, so called staff vane with Lockheed Martin because the unit could not process the required data.
  • Security Systems generate false alarms causing it to return.

The report also still the problems with the ejection seat. In 23 percent of cases their use has been fatal. Which had been previously pilots that are lighter than 76 kilos a chance of one hundred percent “have whiplash, see pages 79 and 80 of the report.
