Apple forced to write FBI software – Macworld

Apple argued that it is fundamentally wrong to force companies to bypass encryption and 8 from iOS, the iPhone maker not even the keys in hands. These devices use end-to-end encryption and thus only have the two communicating users the key

.

a US court demands that the FBI can perform a brute force attack on an iPhone that is used by a gunman in a shooting. Now you can not because the iPhone did after ten incorrect attempts the unit. Apple must now adapt to the firmware writing that makes harmless this feature, so the FBI or may bruteforcen.

The court finds that Apple should provide a signed image file which does not run from the secondary memory or data partition, but from memory. This file must contain a unique identifier so that only these target iPhone can run and not to other devices. The software must ensure that the device itself does not know when bruteforcen password.

Apple Should a better way to know than the proposal by the court, then the company can use technology, writes the court. Apple has five business days to counter the command, know Techdirt

Update 9:57 pm in appeal:. Apple CEO Tim Cook has indicated that it will continue to oppose undermining encryption: “the FBI may well use other words to describe this tool, but make no mistake: to build an iOS version that security in this way circumvents creates undoubtedly a backdoor.”

“While the government may argue that the use can only be limited to this case, there are no guarantees for such mastery of the [backdoor].” Cook calls this case a “dangerous precedent”.
