The quality of software is an insidious problem. New automated techniques therefore urgently need to analyze software and to ensure quality
.
That Jurgen Vinju today represents as professor of Automated Software Testing at his official appointment at the TU Eindhoven.
Software has become too complex to keep a clear view of the occurrence of errors. It is often when making adjustments insufficiently clear what the consequences for the quality of the program concerned. The systems are so large and complicated that quality can not be guaranteed. Moreover, strong maintenance cost increase.
Vinju sees the solution in automated software / analysis. Vinju advocates investing heavily in source and system analysis, in addition to the relative ease of existing software-based innovations. Vinju “Now perhaps reap what we already have, but also sow now for a better future.”
Never let the butcher accept his own flesh
Vinju advises the government and other parties to be aware of this reality and others to the quality of the software evaluate the supplier. “And some things just will not do,” says Vinju. “No vulnerable smart energy grid for example, do not use voting computers and store any personal CITO test results on a Web server.”
