The introduction of the new Formula 1 qualifying system will be delayed according to F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone. After a meeting of the Strategy Group and the F1 commission was announced last week that would be transformed qualifying for a knockout system. During the three qualifying share the slowest drivers would be to lose weight so often until the last would be on pole position. The FIA subsequently announced that the new format may already would be introduced at the Melbourne start of the 2016 season. But Ecclestone has now announced that due to complications in the software delays the entry of the new qualifying system, possibly to the Spanish Grand Prix mid May.
“The new qualifying style will not be implemented yet because we do not get everything on time off, “said Ecclestone. “It would be implemented from the start of this season, but we are not able to get any idea software ready so the modified qualifying will probably be imported into Spain. In Australia it will be still the old qualifying.”
