Now Apple Watch for a while is on sale, Apple is working on a major update to WatchOS. Scoop Tiger Mark Gurman has some details from sources managed to pry inside Apple. The update will probably be presented during WWDC 2015.
According to the sources, the update brings enhanced security, the connection to the iPhone is more reliable, the fitness functions built and get third party apps more opportunities to present themselves.
Find My Watch / iPhone
The update would include a Find My Watch app. Which works similar to Find My iPhone and Find My Mac. In case of loss or theft, it is possible to lock the Watch or delete. Because Apple Watch itself has no GPS, the watch would start to use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to determine the distance to the connected iPhone.
In addition, Find my iPhone reportedly expanded with a feature warns you via the Watch for loss of your iPhone. As these features require a lot of WiFi and Bluetooth chip it is possible to be still waiting for Apple Watch 2. The software would be finished anyway.
Extension fitness functions
Apple is also working on the fitness functions of the Watch. The plan would be to let warn the heart rate monitor for an irregular heartbeat. In the long term we are working on the beneficial use of hidden blood oxygen meter. Also, blood pressure measurements and drag tracking functions would be on the schedule.
Complications from external apps
The upcoming software update makes, according to the sources Gurman not yet native Watch apps as possible, but an intermediate step. It is possible for apps to display information on the dial. Apple calls this Complications , and provides standard complications with a world clock, the position of the moon, the weather and your first appointment show.
The ability to make native apps on the Apple Watch is run according to the sources of Gurman in a later update. Currently execute Watch apps most of their calculations are on the iPhone and send only the results and images via Bluetooth to the Watch, yielding noticeable delay.
The update is likely during WWDC 2015 announced on June 8.
