Makers of software that can block ads in Germany have won a victory in court, according to the Financial Times. Such software is not illegal, was the verdict of the court.
That ruling could have far-reaching implications for big Internet companies like Google, which receive the bulk of their revenue from online advertising. Even major telecommunications companies in Europe have already indicated that they still consider this year to put a blockade on ads on their networks.
The case against software makers like Adblock filed by the German media companies RTL and ProSiebenSat.1. The German court was, however, nothing about it makes to the software. Internet users can decide whether to use the software, so there is no unfair competition.
In addition, there is no question of a monopoly of the software makers because its popularity is determined by the market, so the British newspaper quotes the court in Munich.
