Mendix, a leading provider of platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) has signed a contract with the Software Improvement Group (SIG). This has already resulted in the ‘Mendix Application Quality Monitor, which next week will be available
.
The Mendix Application Quality Monitor enables customers to proactively and daily monitor the quality of the software. Now customers can eliminate the so-called technical debt, also improves maintainability and the lifecycle cost less.
How does it work?
The Application Quality Monitor is a service of Mendix, based on software from SIG. This performs a static analysis of Mendix application models, according to ISO 25 010 standard for maintainability. The analysis covers the main aspects of the application.
Issues
So looking at the extent to analyze the application falls, adaptability and modularity. The technique assesses the application parameters such as volume, duplication, unit complexity and interdependencies. A dashboard provides insight into the quality on a scale from 1 to 5. Possible problem areas where further research is needed are identified. The ratings are based on benchmarks of thousands of projects.
Troubleshooting
“Research shows that there is a clear correlation between the cost and effort required to solve application problems and implement improvements and also the rating of the maintainability of the application. The time it takes to solve a problem and to make improvements, increases exponentially for applications with a low rating, “said Joost Visser, Head of Research at SIG and professor of Large Scale Software Systems at Radboud University.
