Hacker cracks VW software – NU.nl

The hacker in question says that after the announcement of the presence of sjoemelsoftware in his own car to work has gone to unravel the ‘sjoemelcode.

While the diesel engine ran, Domke came out that the software from Bosch, the dispensed quantity of AdBlue (a liquid that is injected into the exhaust gas in an SCR catalyst to reduce NOx emissions) adjusts. After a longer journey – and at higher speeds – to deliver AdBlue could even be reduced to almost zero

Domkes own Volkswagen Sharan would thus use about 75 percent of the time only a minimum of AdBlue,. after 1000 kilometers of 0.6 liter, and 2.5 liter would be needed in order to achieve the promised NOx emissions.

The diesel engines of type EA 189 (1.2, 1.6 and 2.0 TDI’s, only the latter works with AdBlue) came in September in the news when it was found that Volkswagen had applied software which recognized emissions testing, then the engine less NOx than banished outside the laboratory. In the meantime, a solution is presented. Next year, the rollout will start this software and hardware modifications.
