The South Korean competition authority shall investigate to Oracle if it is illegal to bundle software with maintenance contracts. The committee suggests that customers are unable to choose which maintain software.
Hwang Won-chul, director of the Korean Fair Trade Commission tells Reuters that Oracle customers’ demands that they pay for the maintenance of all Oracle software . Customers can not choose the software they want to close maintenance.
Whether Oracle actually penalized if the South Korean competition authority is not yet clear. This needs to be clarified within a few months. The committee recently proposed even though an investigation into Qualcomm or the abuse of a dominant market making.
South Korea asked the last few years, research in to Microsoft regarding the bundling the media player, but it company did not pay compensation. Intel came rather less gracious as to give discounts to certain companies and had to pay 16.5 million euro fine.
