Datacenter Supplier Alticom proposes three data centers available as a test site for software to reduce energy consumption in data centers. Which software is being developed within the European Geyser project and connect to the objective of the European Union to reduce by 20 per cent in CO2 emissions by 2050. The first version of the software will be available in May 2015.
The first tests are conducted in September 2015 in data centers in Wormer, Lopik and Roermond. Alticom stressed that the test environment without risk to customers. The company states that above all relatively small data centers lend themselves well to the project because, simply and quickly test how the housing partner to optimize the performance of the data center.

The European Union supports the plan by 2.9 million euro.De ICT-sector and in particular datacenters are large consumers of energy through the cooling and air circulation systems. To develop sustainable datacenter started the multidisciplinary program Geyser
Smart City
Ed Boerema, CEO at Alticom:. “We are already in 2009 started the efficiency of our data centers. Where Geyser develops software in the field of energy management, we deliver insight into the components within a data center that can be controlled. This has mainly to do with the control of cold and warm air.
Alticom reports that the Geyser project also contributes to the objectives of Smart City, an adjacent project of the European Union, with cities eventually zero energy should be. “A large part of the energy that we use, is converted into heat. In some cases we heat our media towers all this energy, but we also look at how our partners in the project to better utilize this waste heat
