Robot Keeper felled by crashing software, yet profit for robot soccer team … – BBC News

LONDON – The robot soccer team from the Eindhoven University of Technology has an important tournament in the robot soccer, the Portuguese Open, won. The win came a bit unexpected, because the robots during the game had a few times cures.

The robot soccer team Tech United took on the Portuguese Cambada. In the first heat, the Portuguese were the Eindhoven in. That was not so much because their robots played well, but especially by failing technique on the part of TU.

So ‘registered’ robots around less by bright sunlight and passes were not. Also the keeper of the software crashed through compass problems, which the goalkeeper of the field was. Also struggled TechUnited also agree with rebellious players, according to a video clip.

Final indeed smoothly
After a draw in the second match was the final finale indeed smoothly to Eindhoven. Students solved all technical evils on. Partly because the robots played better and was the best ball.

The keeper, who had previously been felled by crashing software, stole the show. TU students had solved the problem compass. Giving the keeper kept one goal after all balls from the goal. It was 6-1.

Preparation for World
Profit from the Portuguese is important for United Tech. The tournament is the only RoboCup tournament in Europe this year for the soccer robots in the division, where the TU / e plays. So the Portugal Open is an important preparation for the World Cup. Last year won TechUnited too.

The robot soccer world championship, the RoboCup, will take place from 17 to 23 July in the Chinese city of Hefei. TechUnited then travels to one of the archenemies of Eindhoven. The Eindhoven team defends the world title in China, who won last year in Brazil.

The goal of RoboCup is to accelerate the development of robot technology for the benefit of society. RoboCup has previously set a goal: by 2050, a team of soccer robots, the human world champion soccer defeat.

Make Robots in Brazil
Besides soccer robots Eindhoven University of Technology is also developing care robots. One of them, the Amigo, only overtook Brazil in second place in the so-called @ Home competition. Next week does Amigo along with the RoboCup German Open, a preparation for the World Cup.
