WinRAR logo (60 pix) RAR Labs has a beta release version of his 5:31 archiving program WinRAR and RAR released. The popular compression tool is available for various operating systems, including Windows, Linux and OS X, but this beta is only available for Windows. The program can handle the most common formats – including rar, zip, cab, ARJ, LZH, tar, gz, ace, uue, bz2, jar, iso, 7z and Z – has a skinnable interface and support for Zip64- and multivolume -cab files. 5:32 version is a bugfix release and should address the following issues:

Following issues are corrected in Windows high DPI mode:

  • if text size settings in Windows was set to 150% or larger, the font size in WinRAR help was not Increased accordingly, resul ting in too small text;
  •

  • default columns width in WinRAR file list was less than expected for 125% or larger Windows text setting.
  •

Bugs fixed:

  • WinRAR SFX module could load DLL libraries from its own executable directory as a result of calling some Windows API functions. It could lead to security threat if DLL files with malicious code were stored in the same directory as SFX archive. Now SFX module takes additional steps to preventinfo Such situation in Windows Vista and newer.
    Be awarethat Windows XP users still can be affectedness, So They Must Be Especially careful to run SFX archive from a directory without suspicious DLL files;
  •

  • WinRAR 5:30 failed to run .lnk files from file list.
  •
