Software update makes the Tesla a self-propelled vehicle – Macworld

News The Tesla S will automagically drive yourself. The software of the electric car is according to CEO Elon Musk within three months an update, after which the driver calmly backwards can sit back and leave the car do the work.

Musk made the disclosure during a conference call yesterday. Within three months, he said, version 7.0 of the Tesla Model S the operating system goes out the door and from then the self-propelled electric car on the highway.

Yes, only the highway, because otherwise it will be too difficult. The car uses sensors that can continue to follow the lines on the road (left and right of the car) and other road users in the vicinity. So is it really self-propelled, or a super cruise, that is the question.

Is a simple software update enough to pull this off? In itself, however. All necessary hardware is inside, with sonar sensors and all. Another question is whether it is allowed by the law. In the United States, it is a legal tangle of various legislation in the various states.

Yes, there can be tested with self-propelled cars, but how that may vary by state. This also applies to Europe. Even police officers can independently decide that the vehicle is a hazard on the road and put it on the side of the road.
