Software checks whether brain is engaged before user is disturbed – NU.nl

The software is developed by Robert Jacob University Massachusetts, reports The New Scientist .

The project, called Phylter, looks at the mental state of the user before notificiaties be displayed. If the user works very concentrated, no notifications are sent. Once the concentration weakens the notifications come through it.

Phylter works with a headband that measures brain activity using infrared light. Due to changes in blood flow to keep an eye on in the prefrontal cortex, the software checks whether the user is concentrated or not.

In addition Phylter can cooperate with a variety of other devices, such Fitbits and smartphones. By combining the data from devices estimates the software better when it’s a good time to send a notification.

According to Jacob Phylter is as interesting as the software adapts to the user automatically. Instead of a few hours to turn off the smartphone, the software works dynamically. This is according to Jacob concentration and multitasking benefits
