“Students should be able to design flexible software ‘- National Education Guide

Virtually all software must be designed so that changes can easily be applied in the future. This enables Sylvia Stuurman in her thesis “Design for Change. Here she investigated how software designers in all sorts of situations to ensure that the software they deliver is flexible for future changes. Stuurman also has looked at how students can be taught to design flexible software. On Friday, June 12th, 2015 she graduates at the Open University, so the university reported.

Sylvia Stuurman is active as a teacher and researcher at the Faculty of Management Science & amp; Technology, Department of Computer Science. The teacher says that if the design of software does not take into account the continuous flow change, any change made will make it more difficult to adapt the software. The result is that there is nothing else to do than the whole system should be replaced by a new system. Therefore, there should be taught to students to design flexible software

The software designer has two main tools at his or her disposal:. Loose coupling and abstraction. The problem is that not everything can be disconnected from each other and that not everything can be abstracted: somewhere connections will be laid and values must be made concrete. In practice occurs in many areas becoming more knowledgeable about where and how these tools can be used to make flexible software. This knowledge will never be exhaustive, just because of the fact that the technique of hardware and software is constantly changing. On Friday, June 12th Quartermaster defends her thesis at the Open University.
