GOUDA – The Green Heart Hospital has followed an investigation by the Data Protection (CBP) measures to protect patient data better. The hospital has locations in Gouda, Schoonhoven aan den IJssel.
The CBP conducted research in response to a vulnerability in the GHZ, so in 2012 the medical records of 47 people came to be on the streets. The network of the Groene Hart Hospital was vulnerable because it turned on software, such as Windows 2000 and Windows XP, which was not updated on security holes. Therefore there is a greater risk that personal medical data are stolen, destroyed or altered. Also, medical equipment connected to that network.
The hospital has now secured additional include sensitive equipment. CBP continues to the hospital to check the next time. Inquiries by the Dutch Association of Hospitals (NVZ) revealed that more hospitals use outdated software. How many hospitals it is, is not clear.
