Software Update: Vera Crypt 1.0e – Tweakers

I use Vera currently Crypt, find the best choice in the big jumble of disk encryption. Most of the problems which the security audit has uncovered in TrueCrypt are indeed removed. These were no major problems to begin with, but the extra protection can not hurt. Vera Crypt addition was begun before TrueCrypt it stopped because one already / had comments on the security.

The mysterious circumstances of TrueCrypt are somewhat worrying. I feel that there is an error substantionele / backdoor in the software which secret services have free access to encrypted resources. The abrupt termination of the period where the Snowden-disclosure were very topical still do this really suggests, even though no hard evidence for this.

More software in the coming months and years to come from the cloud. Although I still believe especially in the hybrid cloud model. Besides the pure cloud solutions, there are applications that best maintain a local footprint, such as on-site automation (WMS), or cloud solutions that better life within their own private cloud infrastructure. I see not immediately move to the public cloud “

Do you or plant a strategy around big data

Tiboldi.? “Certainly, if only because we have a lot of data available. Of all industrial vehicles, trucks, tractors to lift height, we have to decades back the necessary parts. So we manage more than 20 million references. We have within our sector the largest stock of parts available. Important for us is to handle large amounts of data and should not fall back on the classic batch processes. We must be able to process the data quickly. It used to take days, now takes minutes. An important part of our investment is situated not only at the level of software, but also in hardware. In order to process data as efficient as possible, we use custom databases supported by in-memory technology to our big store data. This is to avoid the classic performance bottleneck. “

White “The majority of our IT server infrastructure runs on IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service). The rest is rented in a SAAS model (Software as a Service). We do not go dogmatic along here and evaluate each implementation based on a cost-benefit analysis, and then choose the right platform. “

White “Big Data is not new to us. Retail chains produce huge amounts of data. Data monitoring, KPI definition and reporting is therefore crucial in order to build a successful retail chain. We must also plan and our buying stock for a long time in advance.

The big challenge for the coming years is the integration of all customer data and control. This is a new aspect for Veritas through the evolution of a so-called bricks & amp; mortar chain to an omni-channel supply chain in which the customer.
